This is such an anxious time of the season for me. We have so much to learn that I wonder if the kids are going to get it. I wonder if they will be ready for the first game. But as usual, they always seem to respond. Today we worked on our passing some more. In addition to stationary passing, we practiced passing to a space and leading the receiver. We also worked on a layoff drill with a one touch pass into the goal. I taught the girls a little about playing goalie as well, lower your center of gravity, then use your hands, feet, and eyes to defend.
We started practice about the same time as another U10 team on the field. At the end of practice I told the girls that there was one big difference between us and the other team. We were still there and the other team had gone home 30 minutes ago. We may get out played but we'll never be out hustled or out worked at practice. If you want to be good at anything, you have to work for it and put in the extra time. I'm real proud of how our girls are giving everything they have at practice. I'm trusting that it will pay off in a couple of weeks when we start the season. We still have a long way to go but we're making progress.
I have received sock money from Jackie Ellis and Megan Clanin. Please pay me when you can. I cost is $5 per player. The socks should be in later this week or early next week.
Thanks for getting them there on time today.I'll see you all again on Thursday.
Joel
